Michelangelo is credited with creating The Torment of Saint Anthony , a faithful replica of the well-known engraving by Martin Schongauer when he was just 12 or 13 years old. There is no proof that Michelangelo created this artwork. The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, now houses this painting. It depicts the well-known medieval subject of Saint Anthony being attacked in the desert by demons, whose temptations he resisted; the issue is more commonly known as the Temptation of St. Anthony (or "Trial"). This image is found in the Golden Legend and other sources.
